Apista ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Apista mobile application.

    Apista is designed with a local-first approach. All core features
    work entirely on your device without any internet connection or account required.
  

1. Information We Collect

Free plan (no account required)

All data (apiaries, hives, visits, inspections, voice recordings) is stored locally on your device only.
We do not collect, transmit, or access any of this data.
Voice recordings are transcribed entirely on-device using an AI model. Audio is never sent to external servers.

Premium plan (optional, account required)

Email address — used to create and authenticate your account.
Apiary, hive, and visit data — synced to our cloud for backup and cross-device restore.
Audio recordings — optionally uploaded to cloud storage for backup.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the app's features.
To sync and back up your beekeeping data across devices (Premium only).
To authenticate your account and manage your subscription.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Voice Recordings & AI Transcription

Apista records audio only when you explicitly tap the record button. All transcription is performed on-device using a locally bundled AI model (Whisper). Your voice recordings are never sent to any external server unless you have a Premium account and cloud backup is enabled.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Supabase (Premium only) — cloud database and authentication. Data is stored on servers located in the European Union. Supabase Privacy Policy

5. Data Retention

Local data — remains on your device until you uninstall the app or delete it manually.
Cloud data (Premium) — retained as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
Export your data at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

Apista is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and encrypted storage for data at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
